I have to admit I was shocked when I discovered that this was a debut novel for this author. It was so well written and the story was one that dragged me in from the start. There are so many things I want to say about this novel they I'm not even sure where to start.
Myla Rose is one of the sweetest characters I have ever read about. She is honestly one of those girls that you can't help but fall in love with. Even with life throwing her curve ball after curve ball she holds herself up and keeps going. There is just so much strength in this character. I know that if I had been in a few of the situations that she was in I would NOT have been so nice or able to hold it together as she did. This character is written is such a way that you find yourself rooting for her happy ending but knowing that no matter what happens she will make the best of it. I personally found myself getting attached to Myla. I got happy for her when things were going well, upset right along with her when things went bad and got mad as heck when her jerk of an ex came back around. It's rare they you find a character in a novel who you wish was really so you could be friends with, and Myla Rose is just that character.
Then we have mister Cash Carson. Well holy heck, I have pushed aside all my other book boyfriends and this one is at the top. He is hands down everything you want from a male hero. He is described a very good looking, he is kind, caring, family oriented, determined but yet had his faults. I really enjoyed reading his pursuit of Myla and he decides to stop at nothing to get her. Cash moves back to the small town he left as a child with a broken heart and a mistrust of woman. But Myla Rose changes all that for him without even trying. I loved that this novel was written from not just Myla’s point of view but Cash’s as well. We get to see what is going on in his head and it makes the story just so much stronger. Now while I loved Cash, I'm not going to say I didn't want to shake him a time or two along with the way. He frustrated me at time but thankfully he got his act together pretty quickly.
This story is called a sweet southern fairytale and for me it did not disappoint. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. It was a lovely story of a woman and man who fall in love quickly and deeply but have things that try and get in their way. I can say that I will be looking out for more novels from this author and I hope we will get the stories of some of the other characters from this novel as well

She grasps my hand, and like an instant replay from dinner, her body slides down mine. The contact is somehow more intimate than it was earlier, making her cheeks turn a pretty shade of pink, only noticeable due to the moonlight peeking between the branches of the oak tree in her yard.
"Okay, Cash." Her voice is nothing more than a rasp.
We make it to the porch, and the inner battle begins. Is she expecting a kiss, or will she slap me for trying, what with how our last kiss ended? I war with myself a little longer before settling on a hug. A nice, safe hug.
"Well, goodnight then," she whispers, looking down as I start to pull away.
Is that disappointment I hear in her voice? Well, hell. I can’t have that.
Keeping my right arm around her waist, I bring my left hand to her cheek, placing my thumb just below her jaw. Using that position, I pull her closer to me.
"It was a good night indeed, Myla Rose," I murmur just before I press my lips to hers.
Her lips are soft, so damn soft, even more so than I remember. I nip at her bottom lip, causing her lips to part. I use that small opening to deepen the kiss, and Myla Rose digs her nails into the base of my neck.
Slipping my hand from her waist and down over the curve of her hip, I hike her dress up and settle it on the smooth bare skin just under her ass, pulling her closer—closer—closer. Trailing my fingertips across her cheek and through her hair, I tug on it just a little, just like I’d imagined doing at the start of our night.
Damn, she likes that. It's like I flipped a switch. She's no longer kissing me—she’s devouring me.
I hoist her up, and she wraps her legs around my waist. The front door is the only thing keeping us upright. I press my hips into hers, showing her just how much I want her before pulling her hair again. She throws her head back, hitting it on the door with a loud thump.
That breaks the spell. She lowers her legs and untangles herself from me, and I step back, unsure of what comes next. Is she going to ask me in or send me on my way?
"Do . . . do you want to come in?" She looks up at me expectantly.
"Lead the way, darlin'," I rasp out—because really, is there any other response?
